Generation History
Review AI generation records and understand what to do after an interrupted or partially completed lesson write.
Generation History records your AI-assisted lesson and content generation so you can review what happened, how it ended, and which billing source covered it.
Accessing Generation History
Depending on your role, there are different ways to access this page:
- Teachers: Click Generation History in the sidebar.
- Organization Admins: Open the Billing hub and select the Generation History tab.
Understanding the Ledger view
The Generation History is built as a fast, searchable tabular ledger where each row links directly to the generated lesson or asset.
What a record shows
- Date & Time — timestamp with workspace timezone display
- Type & Prompt — lesson, Step, image, audio, or Ask AI prompt
- Author — teacher who initiated the generation
- AI Credit Cost — exact credits billed (reflecting provider token caching discounts)
- Status — completed, failed, or cancelled
- Actions — jump directly into the lesson editor, or submit an AI Content Claim if the output was defective
Filtering records
Use the preset date filter chips to narrow your activity:
- Presets —
Today,7d,30d,90d, orCustomdate range - Type Filter — Lessons, Images, Audio, or Ask AI
- Status Filter — All, Successful, Failed, or Aborted
Stats overview
Summary cards can show:
- total generations
- total AI credit used
- lessons generated
- audio generated
- plan usage, when your organization has a plan with an allowance
The values help you understand usage over time. They do not replace the lesson's own review and publication controls.
Recovering interrupted generation
Generation writes each Step independently when whole-lesson generation is used. If the connection drops or the page stops receiving progress:
- Keep the editor tab open while the connection is restored.
- Return to the lesson and check which Step cards contain completed content.
- Retry only the Step that is still empty or marked as failed.
- Review the completed lesson before assigning or publishing it.
Completed output that was already saved remains part of the lesson. A reconnect does not require you to regenerate every Step. If the editor shows a busy or waiting state, allow the current attempt to finish or try the failed Step again when the action becomes available.
For a published lesson, generated content is reviewed in its unpublished Working Copy. Publish the Working Copy only after you have checked the content and any remaining failed Steps.
Generation History helps you understand the attempt, but it is not a separate replacement workflow. Use the Step card in the lesson for ordinary retry or replacement.
Privacy and access
Generation History is private to the teacher who created it. Organization administrators can see the records available to them through the Billing hub.

Q&A
Does a failed Step erase the Steps that finished?
No. Whole-lesson generation handles Steps independently. Review the completed Steps and retry the failed one.
What should I do after a disconnect?
Keep the editor open while it reconnects, then return to the lesson and check the Step cards. Retry only the Step that remains empty or failed.
Does Generation History publish a lesson for me?
No. On a published lesson, generation is reviewed in the Working Copy. You must review and publish it separately.
