Issuing Certificates

Setting up automated and manual certificate issuance for your school.

Who this is for

Organization Admins managing credentialing and certification for students completing courses or lessons.

What this page answers

  • How do I create customized Certificate Templates?
  • How do I set up automated rules for issuing certificates?
  • How do I manually grant certificates to students?
  • Where can I track and verify issued credentials?

Prerequisites

  • an account with the Organization Admin role
  • access to the school's branding assets (logo, signature)

1. Create a Certificate Template

Before issuing certificates, you need to configure a visual template.

Navigate to My School > Certificates > Templates and click New Template. Here you can customize the certificate's appearance to match your school's branding:

  • Upload your school logo and background image.
  • Set the default text, titles, and signature fields.
  • Insert dynamic variables (like student name, course name, and completion date) that will automatically populate when the certificate is issued.

2. Set Up Automation Rules

You can configure the platform to automatically issue certificates when students reach specific milestones.

Go to My School > Certificates > Rules to define Lesson Certificate Rules.

  • Select the target course or specific lesson.
  • Choose which Certificate Template should be used.
  • Set the completion condition (e.g., marking a final exam lesson as completed).

Once configured, the system will automatically generate and email the certificate to the student as soon as the condition is met.

3. Issue Certificates Manually

Sometimes you need to issue a certificate manually, such as for legacy students or special achievements.

Navigate to My School > Certificates > Issue.

  • Select the student and the template you want to use.
  • Fill in any required custom fields.
  • Click Issue Certificate.

The student will receive an email with a link to view and download their certificate.

A candidate whose AI-assisted assessment is still waiting for a human check is marked approval required on the issuance board and cannot be selected. Hover the marker to see why, decide the review first, then come back and issue. See AI Oversight and Human Review.

4. Track and Verify Credentials

Every certificate generated by the platform includes a unique credential ID and verification link.

You can review all issued credentials in the Certificate Registry under My School > Certificates > Registry. This registry allows you to:

  • See when a certificate was issued and to whom.
  • Revoke certificates if issued in error.
  • Resend certificate emails.
  • Verify the authenticity of a student's credential.
