Record live lessons, view recordings, and manage school recording settings.

Prerequisites
- an active Locuto.PRO subscription with Video Recording enabled
- an active live call when you start recording
- permission to share the browser tab or screen you want to record
Start a Recording
- Join the live lesson call.
- Click Record lesson. The platform checks your school's available recording capacity.
- If screen sharing is not active, choose what to share when your browser asks.
- Keep sharing the lesson tab or screen while the recording is running.
- Click Stop recording when you are done.
Recording starts only after the live call is active and screen sharing succeeds. The recording captures the shared tab or screen and the call audio. It does not automatically capture lesson content that is not being shared.
When cloud processing finishes, all participants who attended the session receive a Recording Ready notification with a direct link to the recording player.
Video Recording is available on Paid educator plans. Free plans do not support video recording, though student presence and attendance timestamps are always recorded in session logs.
School Recordings Dashboard
The Recordings page (/platform/my-school/recordings) shows live session recordings across your school.
The dashboard includes:
- Status filters: Filter recordings by state, such as Recording, Processing, Ready, or Failed.
- Sortable columns: Sort by date, session, or duration.
- Pagination and mobile layout: Move through long lists and review recordings on smaller screens.
Managing Recordings
Each recording in the data table has quick actions:
- Play: Watch the recording directly on the page using the floating premium recording player.
- Download: Save the video file to your device.
- Delete: Permanently remove the recording. You will be asked to confirm first.
- Auto-renew: Organization admins can choose whether a recording renews before it expires.
Oral Practice & Exam Audio Retention
Audio recordings from oral practice sessions, speaking drills, and AI Live Examiner exam dialogues follow a dedicated retention schedule:
- 1-Month Retention After Enrollment Ends: The audio recording is kept for one calendar month after the student's course access period concludes.
- Privacy Purge: After one month, the audio file is automatically purged to protect student privacy.
- Permanent Score Records: While the audio is purged, the student's written transcript, evaluation scores, CEFR breakdown, and any issued certificates remain permanently available on their profile.
- Listening vs. Downloading: Students can stream and listen to their oral practice recordings online. Downloading raw audio files to a local device is restricted to teachers and school administrators.
Video recordings of live classroom sessions and oral practice audio files have separate lifecycles. Video recordings follow your school's video retention plan, while oral exam dialogue audio expires one month after student course access ends.
