How to join a class, participate in live group lessons, and complete class assignments.

Joining a Class
You can join a class in two ways:
- Email Invitation: Your school or teacher sends an invite to your email. Click the link in the email, sign in to your Locuto account, and you will be enrolled automatically.
- Direct Class Link: Your teacher shares a direct invite link. Clicking the link takes you to the class join page.
Class Seat Limits: Some classes have a maximum capacity. If you open an invite link and see a message that the class is full, reach out to your teacher or school to request a seat or join an alternate cohort.
Your Class Learning Trail
Once you join a class, you can access all your materials from Classes (or My Classes) in your navigation. Your class syllabus is presented as an interactive visual Learning Trail:
- Units as Milestones: Your curriculum is divided into organized Units (e.g., "Unit 1: Introductions & Travel", "Unit 2: Business & Culture"), each with its own chapter heading and description.
- Milestone Class Lessons: Live class sessions appear as major milestones along the trail with their scheduled dates and times (in your local timezone).
- Satellite Homework & Preparation: Any homework, exercises, or preparation tasks linked to a live class appear as satellites branching directly off that class lesson, making it obvious which assignments belong to which live session.
Understanding Lock Messages and Opening Times
Items along your trail may display clear, localized status messages indicating when they will unlock:
- "Opens at class start": Live class lessons unlock automatically at the scheduled start time of the session.
- "Opens 24 hours before class": Preparation materials that open shortly before your live meeting so you can preview vocabulary and readings.
- "Opens after class": Homework assignments that become available once your teacher finishes the live session.
- "Opens after completing previous lesson": Sequential tasks that unlock once you pass the preceding exercise. When tied to a live class, completing the live session unlocks the next lesson for the whole class, so missing a session will not block you from future materials.
- "Available on [Date]": Drip-content lessons that unlock on a specific calendar date according to the class rhythm.
Live Video Classes
When it is time for your class:
Open the Class from Your Schedule
Go to your Schedule or open your class from My Classes.
Click "Start" or "Join"
When the session opens, click the "Join" button.
Attendance Confirmation
As soon as you click "Start" to enter the room, your attendance is recorded. You will not lose credit for attending if you experience a temporary internet or camera issue during connection.
Participate and Collaborate
Inside the live classroom, you can speak with your teacher and classmates, collaborate on interactive exercises, and view shared presentations.
Post-Class Review
When your teacher ends the lesson, you are not abruptly disconnected. You can remain in the room for a few moments to review your notes, reread whiteboard explanations, or check your lesson summary.
Leaving or Switching Classes
To ensure your scheduled lessons, homework grades, and billing remain accurate, students cannot remove themselves from a class directly.
If you need to change your schedule, switch to a different level, or leave a class:
- Contact your teacher or school administrator.
- School staff can transfer your record to another class or remove you from the cohort, ensuring all your completed work and certificates are preserved.

Q&A
Can I belong to more than one class at the same time?
Yes. You can be enrolled in multiple classes simultaneously—for example, a regular grammar class and a weekly conversation club.
What if I miss a live class?
If your teacher recorded the session, the recording will appear under the lesson in your class materials so you can catch up on what was covered.
